BPRD Fellowships 2017
The Fellowships in Criminology / Police Science / Forensic Science is provided by the Bureau of Police Research and Development in order to extend and support studies in the various aspects of prison and police rules, regulations and its related reforms. This particular bureau is established for devising plans plus various programs for requisite full-fledged trainings to be imparted in the prisons, evaluation of the several existing arrangements in the police force, perfect application of modern scientific technology to the work requirements of the police force daily plus with special emphasis on the prisons and Rules and Regulations concerning the police force at large. The bureau grants 6 Fellowships per year for a period of 3 years. On the other hand, the scholarship type is termed as Scholarships and Fellowships for Postgraduates and Research Scholars.
The actual amount for fellowship ranges between Rs.2500/ to Rs. 2800/- per month. An overhead charge of Rs.3, 000/- per year is immediately paid to the institution where the research work is being carried out in a successful manner. Moreover, a contingency allowance of Rs.5000/- per year is also offered. The bureau has the right to change or alter the amount provided to each and every selected candidate under certain norms to a great extent.
Eligibility for BPRD Fellowships
The candidate must have a post graduation degree with at least 55% marks in Social Work or Criminology or Psychology or Sociology or Public Administration or Social Anthropology or Law or Political Science. They must have a second class Bachelor’s degree in any one of the aforesaid subjects or have a 1st or 2nd class Master’s Degree in Science. They should have passed the UGC conducted CSIR examination. In a PhD course in an Indian University of repute, the candidates must either be registered or get themselves registered. Within 3 months of the candidate’s selection for the Fellowship, this registration should take place.
Age Limit: The candidates should be below the age of 30 years.
Application Fee: Application fee is not required
The candidates are advised to submit the prescribed application on a plain paper attached with the Xerox copies of educational documents and other related papers. With bold and capital letters, all the column in the given application form should be filled. A photograph of the applicant should be affixed in the appropriate place given for the same in the application form.
The selection process involves selecting the bright candidates based on merit and then personally interviewing them by a high level committee appointed by the said department for this particular purpose.
