NCERT Scholarship 2019
The main purpose of NCERT Scholarship for Xth students for higher studies is to largely identify students of talented nature at the end of the academic year of class Xth and give them assistance of financial nature towards getting the higher studies at the best possible manner so that the selected students may develop and they will serve the nation well. This said scholarship examination is conducted in two stages, the first stage is conducted at the state level by the Department of State Educational Research and Training and the second stage is conducted at the National level by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
Scholarship value: The NCERT Scholarship for Xth students for higher studies shall be readily available for selected candidate’s future studies plus after suitable re-validation subsequently at terminal stage up to the Doctorate level in Basic and Commerce and including Social Sciences up to the second degree (Post-Graduate) level in Medicine and Engineering.
Eligibility for NCERT Scholarship: In the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), any regular student of 8th Standard shall be eligible to appear. It is to be noted that the eligibility marks to apply for this particular scholarship is 45% for SC/ST Candidates and 55% for General in 7th Standard Annual Examination.
Age Limit: Candidates should be between the age group of 8 to 18 years.
Fee for Application: The fee for application forms for General Category is Rs.25/- only. On the other hand, applicants belonging to SC/ST are exempted from this fee.
Application Process: In the prescribed Performa, students must apply for the NCERT NTSE Scholarship for Xth students for higher studies on plain paper with one recent passport size photograph, requisite documents and other documents and related papers before the last date.
Selection Process: It is to be highly noted that the NCERT General Scholarship is conducted at two levels, Class VIII and Class X. The initial tier Screening Examination called as State Level Talent Search Examination is largely conducted by the states and the Union Territories. The second tier is called as the National Level Talent Search Examination. The question paper of this examination consist of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the Mental Ability Test (MAT). The MAT consists of 100 questions, each carry one mark. The SAT paper consists of 100 multiple choice questions. The number of questions shall be divided as 20 in Mathematics, 40 in General Science and 40 in Social Sciences. The students who are successful in both these examination are called for personal interview. The final awards are granted to the selected students on the basis of composite scores obtained in the SAT, the MAT and the personal interview. In all aspects, it is to be highly remembered that the pattern of examination for Class VIII and Class X will be common.
Important Dates: The official notification related to National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) appears a couple of months before the start of normal academic year in employment bulletin and all the leading vernacular and national newspaper.
